Who needs a time machine when you have Revolution Records?

Walking through the doors takes you to a time four decades ago when Dave Schenk first started his love affair with vinyl. Adorning the formica blue walls are collectibles from the 70’s including posters, t-shirts, and music memorabilia. Music plays in the background and customers of all ages sort through a healthy selection of jazz, soul, punk, alternative, country, and classic rock. Revolution Records captures all emotions of vinyl.

If you’re lucky enough to make it in on the first Friday of each month, you will find live bands, homegrown artists, drinks, food and an incredible atmosphere.

Dave Schenk and Steve Rector are partners with over sixty years combined record sales experience in Kansas City and Lawrence, Kansas. Dave began his journey as manager of Love Records in midtown Kansas City in the 1970’s before opening Alley Cat records at 39th and Main at the Grand Emporium in the Westport area.

Steve began by opening Alley Cat in Lawrence where he stayed for about ten years before the business became unsustainable. After a several year hiatus, they were on the front edge of the vinyl re-surgence by opening Zebedee’s RPM in the popular West 39th Street area of Kansas City in 2006 where they stayed until 2014.

In 2015, they moved the store to the East Crossroads Art District in Kansas City and rebranded to Revolution Records.

The name Revolution Records came from their decades of fighting the good fight in the vinyl business.

Their love for vinyl and long running careers stems from one single principle: vinyl sounds better.
